The Freeze have to be one of the most over-looked bands, not only of Boston hardcore, but really of all 80's hardcore bands, rivaling only Big Boys in my eyes (but I think they're fucking amazing, while others have a lesser opinion). This a later-years re-issue of one of their first, including 3 more songs. I picked this up at the same antique store as the "Brats" LP on white vinyl. Fucking amazing. Raw, honest, very 80's hardcore. In my opinion, probably 100x better than any other Boston hardcore for years to come.Sunday, March 8, 2009

Adolescents - Brats in Battalions

Ok.. You have to know the title track. "Brats in Battalions" is an essential song for Adolescents fans. So much so, that it really should have been on the S/T album (or the Tur-kwise album, if you prefer). There are a few gems on here.. "Brats", "Skate Babylon", "Do the Freddy"... and even a good cover of The Animals' "House of the Rising Sun". Come to think of it, every song is an Adolescnts' classic with the exception of "I Love You" and "She Wolf." Terrible, terrible songs. Enjoy this blessing of digging through antique store record bins!
